For the Peak Oil Skeptics Out There

You might want to take a look at this:

http://www.platts.com/Oil/News/6360268.xml?p=Oil/News&sub=Oil&src=energybulletin

It looks like a GAO (government accounting office) report is going to say that the majority of the oil experts in the US believe not just that peak oil is a reality, but we're there now - that back in May of 2005, we reached what is probably the highest production levels of oil we will ever have, and prices will continue to rise and availability will continue to drop.

This is important news - an independent congressional research office has documented that a. the oil industry is being intentionally opaque and b. that there is good reason to believe that we have crossed the peak threshold.

That does not mean that we'll run out of oil - but it does mean that the conflict between rising world demand and reduced availability will be a real and troubling one.
