Hi Sharon,

Thanks for this, I've been knitting socks for awhile...and love it. I make two socks on one circ needle via the Magic Loop method (there's a Magic Loop yahoo group) also lots of information here:

but I usually start the socks on dpns and knit about one inch down on each before transferring to the large (addi) circular needle.

There is also a great socknitter's yahoo group connected with http://www.socknitters.com/

--scads of patterns there plus cyberclasses, tips and lots of support.

A great untapped resource of wool is thrift store sweaters (check the label)...especially when first learning. Carefully undo the seams and unravel (or ravel?) the yarn...further instructions for getting the kinks out are here:
